Ex Libris on Conquistadors Cabeza de Vaca and Cortes
Three new books explore the Spanish conquest of the Western Hemisphere. Fitzpatrick’s The Spanish Conquistadores weighs heavy with research and the cruelties of war, Bishop’s The Odyssey of Cabeza de Vaca follows the perilous Florida landing and journey west, and Franck’s Trailing Cortez Through Mexico offers the traveler’s intelligent wit and detail. The trio links to a Creographic feature on Maya and Aztec art.
