The Phoenix War Historian lists 261 Bristol men in U S service with many officers and noncoms. Corrections and missing names are sought, especially those with incomplete records marked by a star. Volunteers rejected or exempted should be logged on separate cards for filing after peace.
Nine men from Bristol and Tiverton bound for Camp Devens Mass left on the 8.20 train escorted by a King Philip Fife and Drum Corps and local officials. The group included John J Rowan and eight other men with two more Bristol candidates considered. Falco did not appear and Cherello was arrested for assault on Bristol police.
About fifteen Tip-Top Club members at Byfield School held a farewell reception for Miss Belle James who leaves Taft School for a higher job in Quincy Massachusetts. The event featured a mock wedding with a multilingual program of speeches songs and poems by members including Nellie Ide Maggie Brogan Mollie McCarthy and others. The party closed at the Pastime Theatre and plans for the next meeting at Tip-Top School Wood Street were announced.
