Town Council approves ordinances and grants permits in brief meeting

The semi monthly council session lasted 30 minutes and approved new police ordinances. A boxing exhibition permit for Bristol Boys Club was granted. A five year lease of the Pastime Theatre to Alonzo Vail was approved and a floor replacement for the stage authorized. A $5750 payment from Cranston Worsted Mills funds police services during a strike and a $161.59 water works credit were allocated to the Constitution street account.

Reynolds club stages Alice in Wonderland in school auditorium

The Reynolds Dramatic Club repeated the fairy play in the school auditorium Wednesday evening before a large audience. Instrumental music was provided by the Reynolds school orchestra under the direction of Miss M Theresa Sullivan, supervisor of music.

The Rhode Island bridge project to connect Newport with Bristol is urged as vital for state cohesion. Supporters say it will boost Providence-N Newport trade, attract northern business, and ease travel. private builders may be needed if state funds falter.

Cottage Damaged By Fire On Tl Usher Street

A cottage owned by Mrs Rose De Lello on Tl Usher Street was damaged in a fire that began in the upper portion of the one and a half story dwelling. Fire brigades used two water streams for about three quarters of an hour to confine the blaze. The house, insured, was evacuated by Mrs De Lello and her children who were asleep. no injuries reported.

The regular semi monthly meeting of American Legion Auxiliary Kearnes Unit No. 6 met in GAR Hall with many members present. Committees were named for 1927 including Social chaired by Catherine Troiano and Rose Preble with Margaret Edmonds Ann Le maire and Hope M Cate. Permanent Entertainment chaired by Nora E Dwyer with Hope M Cate and Alice McCoughlan. Relief and Welfare chaired by John Dunbar with Flimme Conley.

Officer in fog collision with Hochman truck

At 7 15 last night in Warren Lou Hochman of 29 Water street struck a traffic beacon at High and Bradford streets. The beacon, Mr Traffic Beacon, was knocked off its base by Hochman’s truck weighing about 300 pounds and causing front-end damage to the vehicle. The driver said fog reduced visibility.
