Island Rail Steamer Link Near Constitution Street
Attorney E G Buckland of the New Haven Railroad says a Rhode Island island connection via steamer at Constitution Street is feasible with Rhode Island Island Road. He favors Constitution Street as the landing point over Griswold Avenue for safety and quicker access to the island. Buckland notes a fast boat could transfer passengers to Consolidated cars and that the Island Road may eventually adopt the Constitution Street terminus. He also cites a possible Philly Lumber Co. landings project at Franklin Street, linking boats to rail for lumber inland.
