Brown Professor to Speak at Bristol Church Founders Supper

Prof Wilfred H Munro of Brown University will give an address at the 250th Anniversary Founders Supper at First Congregational church on Thursday evening. He is an authority on Rhode Island and Bristol history and will recount the 1680 founding of the church, the founders purpose, and the call of the first minister Rev Benjamin Woodbridge.

Alumni Association meeting postponed to January 24

The Bristol High School Alumni Association meeting, originally set for this evening, is postponed to next Friday at 8 PM in the Colt High School auditorium. A committee of graduates from Bristol and Colt Memorial High Schools will recruit members and advise on activities for the new association.

Re appointed Bristol medical examiner chosen by Senate

At a Providence session yesterday the Senate confirmed Governor Case’s re appointment of Dr John R Bernardo to be State Medical Examiner for Bristol. The term lasts until January 31 1934, succeeding the late Dr O R Siegel who held the office for many years. Bernardo has served since Siegel’s death.

Prohibition Address Series Concludes In Rhode Island

Rev. Herbert D. Graetz will close a Prohibition lecture series at First Congregational church. The Christian Endeavor Society hosts with scripts by Rev. Graetz on the underpinnings of the Prohibition question and the 94 000 respondent questionnaire. The service includes sermons by Rev. Graetz and Rev. Anthony R. Parshley and Mr. Kenneth S. Dale, prayers, readings, and a Christian Endeavor quartet performance.

Lions Clubs Plan Joint Meeting Next Tuesday at Belvedere

Bristol and Warren Lions Clubs join for a 7 pm program at the Belvedere Hotel. Governor G L Burtwell of the 23d International District will attend and deliver the main address. Entertainment includes club numbers, a Miss Ella May Lemaire dance specialty, and telephone development films. Olympians Defeat Presbyterians 27 to 20 In Church League

The Olympians beat the Presbyterians of Pawtucket church league 27 to 20 at the YMCA gym. The first half ended 14 to 11, with Rebello Marshall Raposa Shean Massano Sousa and others scoring for Olympians while J McKenzie Corey Judson led Presbyterians. Referee was George J O'Brien with Miller as timer.

Rotary Club Seeds Scholarship Fund For Youth

The Rotary Club plans a revolving scholarship fund to aid students in high school or advanced training including technical or academic courses. An entertainment on March 3 and 4, likely a minstrel show, will raise funds. Details to be provided at the next meeting.
