Over the past week winter storms closed schools and shut roads. A nine inch snowfall Friday was followed by a second storm Monday bringing rain and basement floods. Town Administrator Anthony Agatiello urged improvements to snow removal as residents blamed shortages of sand and parking bans.

Replacements include Public Works Director Arthur Langelo by Joseph Cavallaro. Building Inspector John Ligiero replacing William Rego. Public Works Director Louis Castriotta Jr to replace Castriotta. Public Welfare Director Vincent Berretto replacing Julie Sturges. Tax Assessor Wayne Brown replacing Joseph Cabral. Electrical Inspector Armando Tebano replacing Charles Carr. Sealer of Weights Frank Camara replacing an unnamed appointee.
Neighbors near the proposed 75 acre domed dog racing complex at Metacom Ave and Narrows Rd mobilize a petition opposing the plan. About 500 residents had signed with a public hearing set for Monday, Jan 24, citing traffic noise and property value concerns as reasons to block the project.
