Incendiary Fire Destroys Warren Barn and Horses

A Sunday morning blaze leveled George B. Warren's barn on East Central Street, destroying three horses including Melba who had a 2.29 track record, plus two express wagons and related gear. The fire caused extensive damage to a carriage house and sparked an ongoing police hunt for the arsonist while insurance adjusters settled Warren's losses.

Golden wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Edward S Babbitt

The Babbitts of Bristol celebrated fifty years of marriage with a reception attended by family friends and St Michael's church circle. The couple, lifelong Bristol residents aside from ten years in Boston, recalled past weddings and displayed heirlooms including a wedding gown and daguerreotypes.

Naval Reserves annual meeting and officer appointments

The Naval Reserves held its annual meeting at the armory on Friday evening with large attendance. Lieut E P Gladding presided as Albert T Gale was elected secretary and Robert H Anderson treasurer. Several petty officer appointments were announced including George P Gladding B M Ist class Earl P Bowen B M 2d class Samuel C Wardwell GM Ist class Russell P Coggeshall GM 8d class Thomas J McCaughey QM 9d class Herbert H Congdon QM 2d class and Coxswains Thomas Darby Robert H Anderson James V Garbett and John R Magee Yeo man 8d class. Ensign election postponed to Jan 9 at 8 o'clock to fill vacancy caused by Ensign O K Thurston’s resignation. Committees named and officers noted for athletic and rifle duties.
