The Bristol YMCA ran a boys and girls junior high basketball tournament awarding 65 medals and trophies. Ferris's Dry Goods defeated Annarummo's Meat Market 27 to 20 in the boys final. Ray-Car Sports topped Bristol Cleansers 43 to 27 in the consolation. Chuck Annarummo and Joseph Cavallaro received top trophies for leadership and play. Naomi Sousat and Janice Megathlin led girls awards.

Bristol sailor joins Army unit in Japan training
Robert Walsh of Bristol Rhode Island served with the Eighth U S Army in Japan. He attended Bristol public schools worked as a fisherman before enlisting in September 1948 at Fort Dix New Jersey and completed six-week combat effectiveness training with Company E 5th Cavalry Regiment 1st Cavalry Division near Mount Fuji Yoshida Japan. He sailed for occupation duty in July 1949 and plans to return to fishing after discharge.

Fiscal Change Over Committee To Meet Again Thursday
Councilman Norman E. Benard said the five member fiscal year changeover committee will reconvene Thursday afternoon after a four and a half hour session last Thursday failed to resolve the issue.
