Scholarships Offered To High School Seniors
One hundred and fifty scholarships of 100 dollars each will be awarded by the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. One hundred are open to one qualified pupil in this year's graduating class of each New England high school. Fifty orchestral scholarships are open to students of orchestral or band instruments. Scholarships cover the first year of the Diploma or Bachelor of Music program starting September 1942. Recipients must show outstanding ability, good scholarship, and need. Recommendations come from school principals or music supervisors.

Edward F Trainor Transfers To Pensacola Naval Station
Edward Francis Trainor son of Mrs Mary Trainor of 114 Constitution Street has been transferred from Newport to the Naval Air Station Pensacola Florida. He enlisted in Pawtucket in January and will serve with ground crews of a flying squadron at the Annapolis of the Air. Trainor will be eligible for rate advancement and higher pay. The Navy offers forty five service courses including radio electricity aerial photography and aviation mechanics through its service schools for enlisted men.

Grass Fires Spur Warning From Bristol Fire Chief
Fire Chief Moses Moore reports 18 grass fires in Bristol this week and 28 alarms this February. He cites state law on open fires and urges residents to warn children seen burning fields. Last night fires occurred at Low's Lane Ferry Road and Colt Farm believed caused by cigarette smokers.
