First Italian Settler In Bristol Buried This Morning
Antonio Desiderio the first Italian settler in Bristol was buried after funeral mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. He died suddenly Saturday afternoon at 84 and had come to America in 1886 settling in Colchester before moving to Bristol. He left a bakery business and helped Italian families. survivors include a daughter and several grandchildren.

The Bristol Skating Club hosted two weekend skating events on the Mt Hope Farm pond with about 25 children at each session. After skating, families gathered at the Governors Bradford House log cabin for hot dogs coffee and cocoa. supervisor Paul Thompson led the children. Makowsky Brothers Plan Memorial Theatre on Hope Street
Charles and Sidney Makowsky announce plans to build a motion picture theatre as a memorial to their father who died Feb. 10, 1933. The $60,000 to $75,000 project will seat 750 on main floor and 250 in balcony, with Western Electric sound. Construction to start after plan approval, about three months, in the Makowsky Block on Hope Street.
