Marine receives Purple Heart for Korean War wounds
PFC Manuel Januario Jr. son of Mr and Mrs Manuel Januario Sr. of 34 East State Street received the Purple Heart from Capt W F James in Yokosuka Japan. He was wounded December 2 in North Korea after being encircled with his unit during heavy combat. He is 21 and to have three years in the Marine Corps next October. he played football at Colt High School before enlisting.
