New Haven Fast Trains Cut Rhode Island to New York Time
The New Haven Railroad announces a record 3 hour 10 minute Providence to New York run by Merchants Limited starting March 1 and 11 for the Providence to Grand Central service. Yankee Clipper trimmed to 3:23 Boston to New York via Providence, with other trains sped 10 to 25 minutes. Continuous telephone service will be provided from faster trains.

A Bristol School Committee meeting reported a year end balance of 1344.58 after total expenditures of 294916.12. Additional notes cited unpaid bills and a 285.87 teacher salary reimbursement. The panel granted permissions for community events and approved science equipment funds and dental care reminders for students.

Obituary notes two Bristol residents with multiple survivors
Funeral services were held for Edward M Simas 93 of Darthmouth avenue who died after a long illness and for Manuel K Mello 65 retired Bristol grocer. Simas born in Castelo Branco Portugal Aug 9 1855 resided in Bristol 29 years with five sons two daughters and several grandchildren. Mello native of St Michael's Azores came 50 years ago and operated a Bristol grocery with widow Mary Estrella Mello surviving two sons two daughters a brother six sisters and two grandsons. Burial for both in St Mary's Cemetery.
