Benefit whist for church by St Marys Altar Society

School Committee Sets Budget and Notices for Maintenance

The School Committee met in the Colt Memorial High School library with most members present. They approved a tax request of 131 800 for school maintenance and outlined a detailed budget totaling 149 874 with receipts totaling 180 7046 leaving 131 803 54.

Ladies Minstrels Delights Pastime Theatre Ensemble

Hope Circle Daughters of Isabella presented its second annual minstrel show at the Pastime Theatre directed by Miss Nora F Dwyer. A large audience enjoyed snappy songs and balanced performances with a full chorus soloists and dances. The Moulin Rouge Orchestra led by Daniel E L Dwyer provided music and Miss Bertha Menard and Miss Margaret Morrissey were piano leads.

Parochial Class of 1928 Food Sale Raises Graduation Funds

Members of the Class of 1928 at St Marys Parochial School held a successful food sale in the church basement auditorium from 3 to 6 pm on Friday. Decorations featured blue and white, class colors. Prizes were won by Curard, Philp Morris, John Cantwell, Hugh Kelles Jr., and Catherine Sullivan. Proceeds fund graduation expenses for a record 53 students, 36 girls and 17 boys.

Colonial Re view Promises 1760 Era Stage Atmosphere

Enthusiasm peaks at Colonial Review rehearsals by Company C Bristol Train of Artillery. The program staged Feb 21 at Guiteras Memorial School features 13 representatives of the original states in Colonial costumes, a 15 man chorus with four end men, and a minstrel scene with a house façade and piano on the porch. Judge Edward L Leahy will serve as interlocutor reading a poem about the 13 states. Tickets are nearly exhausted.
