Three Years for Passing Worthless Checks in Bristol
Zigmund Peret, 30, of North Attleboro, was sentenced to three years in the Providence Reformatory after pleading to 11 counts of passing bad checks and one embezzlement charge. Eight checks and the embezzlement count were withdrawn. three convictions carry one-year terms consecutive. Police Chief Ferrara blamed high pressure auto salesmen for Peret’s spree after they pressured him to buy a car with a worthless check. Peret previously owned up to similar offenses in Massachusetts and served a prior year in county jail.
