Bristol Harbor Deep-Water Terminal Proposed by Admiral Edwards
At the American Association of Port Authorities convention in Galveston Texas Rear Admiral John R Edwards urged developing a deep-water terminal on Narragansett Bay near Bristol and Prudence Island. He argued current Halifax and Portland facilities are insufficient and a Bristol site offers miles of deep-water frontage and land for piers shops and warehouses. He urged official study and action to boost US Canada and Britain trade through a Grand Trunk System terminal in New England.
