Town Clerk John W. Church received both parties slate of candidates with no counter nominations. Republicans name Wall for Moderator and keep incumbents on Town Council. Democrats present Thompson as First Councilman and Pivin as Second Councilman. Kearney Legion Post Seeks Membership for Year

Kearney Post No 6 American Legion runs a membership drive this week to reach its quota. Seventy five members present heard that 88 members have joined so far and the quota is 143. Senior Vice Commander Donat J Gladue chairs the committee and will meet at 210 High Street tomorrow. William E Sanford, WW II veteran, was welcomed as a new member. Observers from the First Fighter Command praised the post observatory facility. The post reported 16 cars scrapped in December and 24 since then. Meetings continue at the Ever Ready Fire Station until further notice.

Jane A Holmes Selected as Aviation Engineer Cadet

Miss Jane A Holmes daughter of Mr and Mrs A J Holmes of 913 South Main Street Warren Rhode Island is among five Rhode Island State College women chosen by Curtiss-Wright Corporation as engineering cadettes. They will study a special course then join the company to support aviation engineers. Holmes will report to Cornell University for training. Her father is plant engineer of U S Rubber Company. She previously worked with the Mariner Ship Vigilant and studied laboratory technology and is granddaughter of Mrs M Grace Farrally and the late Joseph Farrally former editor of the Phoenix.

Rubinoff Concert Draws Big Bristol Crowd

Rubinoff and Makai ka Alexander performed at Colt Memorial Hall in Bristol under the Rotary Club sponsorship. The afternoon and evening shows drew large audiences, with praise for the violinist's showmanship and for Alexander's accompaniment. The event raised funds for charity and featured several of Rubinoff’s own compositions plus a moving encore.
