Effective Feb 1 the Bristol Plant of the United States Rubber Company announced many promotions and appointments per production manager T C Jennsen. Eugene Heibecker became assistant manufacturing superintendent of bare Wire and cable. John Francis general foreman of drawing and stranding. Elmer A. Rounds continued as general foreman of the cable department. Max M Phenes promoted to assistant manufacturing superintendent of rubber lead. Joseph Aronne continued as general foreman of vulcanizing and Banbury. Walter T. Bullock became general foreman of the pan insulating department. William H Burke continued as foreman of the lead press. Nicholas Proto promoted to finishing superintendent in charge of finishing assembly. Louis DeFelice to general foreman of finishing. Eric Bense named general foreman of assembly. Joseph Bisbane continued as general foreman of braiding. George F. Jacobson remained senior assistant manufacturing superintendent focusing on Laytex plastics. Joseph Massa promoted to Laytex towers. Russell W. Prus F Means, YMCA general secretary, appointed chairman of the Red Cross annual fund campaign for 1952 in Bristol. Bosworth announced. A Pacific Theater of Operations veteran, Means came to Bristol Aug 1 1949 from Camden Maine where he led the Y drive. He headed the 1950 March of Dimes campaign and is a native of Brookville Pennsylvania.

One Handbag Survives March of Dimes Auction
At the March of Dimes auction in the Colt Memorial Auditorium only one item, a black patent leather handbag, remained unsold. Officials blurred about viewing inside the item then contacted Bristol Phoenix for help. The handbag was found at Bristol Memorial High School and can be claimed by the owner at Bristol Senior High School under principal John L. Burke.

Bristol Manufacturing leases Burnside Street buildings for storage
The Bristol Manufacturing Co. has leased former Herreshoff Boat Co. and Collins & Aikman Plant I facilities on Burnside Street for storage. Plant manager Maurice C. Smith III says the space will be used only for storage and denies plans to expand manufacturing there. The firm is producing an insulated boot for the armed services, credited with reducing frostbite in the Korean campaign. Despite hiring rising from 800 to 1100, there is no production increase noted due to this extra labor.
