Ferryboats Stall In Ice at Bristol Slip
The Sagamore ferry remains tied up at Constitution Street slip as eight inch ice forms nearby and 10 to 12 inches farther out. A new ferry will be ready in spring with similar speed, operating alongside the Sagamore on a half hour and on the hour schedule. Electric cars run between Island terminus and Newport, while the Warwick line struggles with large ice floes causing delays.

Firemen Meet Regular Monthly Sessions Dreadnaught Relic Presented
The three fire companies held meetings Wednesday evening. Dreadnaught Hook Ladder and Hose received four membership applications. two were voted in and a carved life sized wooden Indian relic from the DeWolf mansion, picked up at Bermuda Islands in 1770, was presented for display. Hydraulions approved routine business and appointed officers. They invited Americas Fire Company of Rockland to visit next August and plan to attend a Warren fair on February 26. King Philip Engine adjourned to February 7 due to mills with many workers.

Mrs Nancy L Close widow of Noah P Close suffered a fractured left hip after slipping on an icy High Street sidewalk near the First Congregational church Wednesday. She was aided by Howard Allen and Frank D Wardwell, taken to Wardwell's store, then home, where Dr Hasbrouck and Dr Allison treated the femur neck fracture. Though elderly, at a little over 60, recovery is expected.
