Miss Gertrude Guiteras Dies in Bristol Philanthropist Remembered

Miss Gertrude Elizabeth Guiteras a longtime Bristol resident and noted philanthropist died last evening at her High street home after months of illness Funeral services set for Thursday at two o clock Rev Herbert Graetz to officiate Burial will be in Juniper Hill Cemetery She supported charity quietly including work with Dr Grenfell Labrador and helped fund the Guiteras House Miss Guiteras left no immediate relatives and is survived by cousins in New York Philadelphia and Cuba.

New Year Celebrations Ring in Bristol With Dances and Masses

Bristol clubs and churches plan New Year events from 9 p m to 4 a m including a Yacht Club dance at Constitution Street, Y M C A open house with Viking team activities, and dances at Colonial Hotel Belvedere and New Bristol Casino. Masses at St Elizabeth’s St Mary’s Our Lady of Mt Carmel and Trinity Episcopal mark the religious observances. Music by Carl Tatz orchestra, Jose Carmen, and Ella Wilson accompanies varied festivities and a spaghetti supper for Viking players.

First Bristol Troop Marks 28th Scout Anniversary in Gala Night

The First Bristol Troop of Boy Scouts of America celebrated 28 years of Scouting in Bristol with a Scout Hall party. George R. Fish has led since 1912 as Scoutmaster, joined by S S Edwards Sea Scouts unit and Patrols. Awards included a gold palm for Joseph Marshall, four year service certificates for several leaders, and a film of Camp Yawgoog followed by refreshments.
