Miss Geraldine Ruth St John an 18 year old of 465 Terrace Ave Warren was injured Friday evening while crossing Metacom Ave She was struck by a car driven by Edward H Almeida 33 of 273 Metacom Ave and taken to Rhode Island Hospital in good condition Police said the driver ran into her path after skidding and another driver Fred T Dyer 20 of 26 Everett St had briefly pulled into a driveway following an argument with Miss St John

John C. Mello III 24 of 906 Hope Street died after his car failed to negotiate a curve at Hope Street and Ferry Road and struck a utility pole. Three passengers Paul Murphy 19 David Borges 19 and William DuPont 20 were treated on scene and later in hospital. Borges and DuPont released, Murphy in good condition.

Four youths arrested for vending machine theft on Hope Street
Four youths, including a juvenile, were captured by local police early Sunday after stealing from candy and cigarette machines at Econ-O-Wass laundry on Hope Street. Three were arraigned later before Acting Judge Joseph D Accardi. Coelho admitted larceny of cigarettes, and Sousa and Faria pled guilty to damaging property. Bail set. case adjourned to January 4. A fourth youth was apprehended in connection with the incident.
