The poem extols ending old feuds and corrupt aims while welcoming nobler virtues and peace. It urges ringing out pride, disease, and greed, and ringing in truth, justice, love, and a brighter future under the Christ.
John H. Wall, former town councilman and current Tax Assessors Board member, was elected president of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce by the Executive Committee. Edward I. Cooper was elected to the Executive Committee as Wall’s successor. A meeting is slated for Tuesday evening January 9 as the chamber, with about 150 members, plans to address local problems.
Thieves stole light bulbs from the large Christmas tree in the church yard next to Seinity church Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The tree was lit each evening this week from 6 to 7 oclock for public viewing and the rector Fr Maryon expressed disbelief at the desecration.
Officers were elected at Grand Army Hall last evening with Catherine Marz serving as Past Chief and Pauline Brelsford as Most Excellent Chief. Installations are set for Thursday evening January 11 with a supper and Christmas tree festivities following.
