Important Railroad Deal Shakes New York Circles
A transfer of the Rhode Island Securities Company to the New York New Haven and Hartford system was completed yesterday in New York City. Marsden J. Perry, former Rhode Island president, will not join the new company. President Mellen and other officials were in town Tuesday as consolidation plans unfold, signaling extended tracks along Highway street and Walley Street to Hope Street. The move could enable Suburban freight lines to connect with Newport and Providence boats, tying into the Consolidated road.
