Railroad Conductor Assaulted On Electric Train

Two well dressed men boarded a Constitution street electric passenger train before 9 30 pm and antagonized riders by reversing seats. When Conductor William Bowler challenged them one struck him in the face. The pair fled as a revolver shot was heard. Police followed but found no trace. two men were later arrested in Providence but cleared and released.

Bristol Chapter D A R met at Mrs A L Williams residence with Regent presiding. Two new members were welcomed, Mrs Charles Ro Blackimur and Miss Cora Mo Hill. Members heard a report from Mr Johnson on a gift to Hindman KY school for mountain whites. A service at Grace Church Providence marked a century of peace. George Millard spoke on Colonial Furniture. The group celebrated the chapter’s twenty third birthday with a cake and 23 candles.

Town Council OKs Vault Floor Repair and Pole Permit

Last evening the Town Council met with full board present and voted to hire Octave LeClair to install a Lanalite floor in the Town Clerk vault, fireproof and sanitary. Permission was granted to the Providence Telephone Co. to erect a pole on Franklin Street 150 feet east of High. The protest by Manager Dillon of the Pastime and Star Theatres against M.O.C.A. license-required moving pictures was withdrawn and filed.

Prayer Meeting and Christmas Services at First Baptist

At First Baptist Church this evening the 7:30 prayer meeting will cover The Masters Loyalty. Choir rehearsal follows at 8:45. Christmas Gifts for Poor Aid Bristol Needy

The National India Rubber Company and Vice President LeBaron Colt organized a December 2 Donation Day for Bristol’s poor. About $80 was raised and given to District Nurse Miss Selley, St Mary's Sisters of Mercy, and Father Rebello to distribute Christmas cheer. Bristol Branch of British Relief Association Meeting

A Bristol branch meeting of the British Relief Association was held at the YMCA with President George E Liebreich presiding. Committees reported progress in collecting supplies for Soldiers relief. A separate committee led by William Satcliffe will organize an entertainment at the Pastime Theatre on Wednesday evening to benefit the relief fund featuring drama, music, and motion pictures.

Holy Name Crew Defeats Newport Colts 82 to 18

Holy Name Society of Newport outpaced the Colt High squad 82 to 18 at the YMCA gym last evening with Gladding and Dunbar top for the Colts. Earlier Sophomore Junior girls beat the Senior-Freshman OM.H. 38 to 10 in a fast YMCA game as Donovan and Marshall starred for the winners while Sparks and Potter led the losers.
