The town prepared for Christmas as packages stacked up and promises of good behavior emerged. Hope Street gleamed with lights while Colt High lawn displayed floodlit trees and nativity tableaux. Churches planned services, clubs scheduled parties, and residents planned letters to Santa as autumn-to-winter weather arrived.

Democrats Plan Victory Dinner for March 1949

About 150 Democrats gathered at the Midway Steak and Lobster House for a victory dinner. About twenty Bristol Parent Teachers Association members braved rain to hear Russell Meinhold discuss the reasons for audio visual aids in education at Colt Auditorium. The talk covered how vivid demonstrations aid slow and average readers and improve hearing, eyesight and speech.

High School class tours Bristol Phoenix building

Fourteen boys from the High School Opportunity class visited the Bristol PHOENIX to learn about publishing a semi weekly newspaper. Instructor Anthony E. Agatiello guided them with Roswell S. Bosworth, the publisher, showing the building and operations. They plan a visit to the U. S. Rubber Company plant after Christmas recess.

St Albans Lodge F and A M installed David A. Horne as Worshipful Master with a suite of officers at the Masonic Temple. The Bristol Veterans Council voted to stop pursuing low cost veterans housing after only two attendees showed for the meeting. A mass meeting on a town War Memorial was set for Thursday January 20, with organizers seeking input from unaffiliated veterans.
