Zoning Board Delays Three Variance Petitions

Bristol Zoning Board of Review heard three variance petitions Tuesday evening. Hermano Medeiros’s request for a two car garage was held over for January. John Watkinson Jr’s auto service station addition was delayed amid a pending violation. Joseph Manning’s real estate office request was denied as needing a zoning change from the Town Council.

Bristol settles Texeira case with 8 thousand out of court payment

The Bristol town council approved a 1000 dollar appropriation from the legal contingency fund to cover the town share of an 8000 dollar out of court settlement in the Texeira police brutality suit filed by Lionel Texeira a Colt Andrews student. Charlie Edmons will pay 1000 and the town insurance agent 6000. A 33000 dollar jury award prompted Judge Pettine to suggest a mistrial motion while the solicitor urged settlement as best and cheapest option.
