Arruda Gets 30 Days in Providence County Jail

Frank Arruda 22 of 15 Prospect Street was sentenced to 30 days in the Providence County Jail after being found guilty of receiving stolen goods. His wife Emma, an expectant mother, had her sentence continued six months and was placed under probation. The couple were linked to a theft ring involving three youths tied to ten robberies, with loot found at their home.

State College Play Promotes Phi Delta Membership

Local student Alice Brightman from Bristol is a freshman in home economics at Kingston State College. She will perform in The Ghost Story by Booth Tarkington as part of three one act plays to be presented by Phi Delta, the college honorary dramatic organization. Olympian Club Edges Riverside In Open Game

Timely baskets by Georgie St Angelo and Chris Medeiros in the closing minutes let the Olympian Club defeat Riverside Independents 22 to 16 Saturday evening at the local YMCA. A fair crowd saw a close hard fought contest with Henry Levy stepping in at center and contributing four points. Bucci led Riverside with ten of their sixteen. In the preliminary, Olympian B defeated St Michael's 26 to 10.

Senior High School Most In Need of Andrews Bequest

Bristol School Committee reveals that the largest need for the Robert D Andrews bequest funds is to expand the senior high school facilities. The July 11 1933 letter to Education Commissioner Walter Ranger requests a survey to determine best use of about 115000 for a new school in memory of Andrews father.

Friends of John H. Tucker Wilson report that their relation from Shrewsbury and Pembroke, H T Wilson, captured a London clipping celebrating a flawless rowing season. The teen champion won multiple events including Head of the River races, Busche Fox Freshmen’s Sculls, Forster-Fairbairn Pairs, Magdalene Pairs, Lowe Double Sculls, University Light Fours, and the Colquhoun Sculls, after spending summers in England and Germany with Pembroke crews. He stands 6 ft 14 in and weighs 170 pounds.
