Bristol Wins First Game Over Bridgewater A A 22 to 12

Bristol Town Team opened the 1923 24 season with a 22 to 12 victory over Bridgewater A A of Bridgewater Massachusetts at the Naval Armory. Herbie Geisler hit five long shots and Tinkoff added four baskets while Cochrane led the visitors with four. Cambridge Professionals visit Bristol Friday as two local teams play a fast preliminary.

Inquest Finds Husband Responsible for Mrs. Fontaine Death

Coroner’s findings say Sarah T Fontaine died from pulmonary hemorrhage caused by injuries inflicted by Ernest Fontaine. He was held criminally responsible and committed to Bristol County Jail without bail awaiting grand jury action after waiving examination. Eleven witnesses testified in Warren proceeding.

Warren Man Injured In Auto Hit And Run

Jean Baptiste Arel sixty three of Warren was found unconscious on Main Road near the Warren line Saturday after eight. He had three broken ribs and a severe scalp wound. Police could not identify the auto or driver and Arel was taken home after treatment.

Bristol Chapter DAR Holds Regular Meeting at Salisbury Home

Bristol Chapter D A R met at 96 Burton Street yesterday at 3 o clock. Regent Mrs Alfred M Merriman introduced Mrs Frederick McAdams of Quequechan Chapter Fall River who spoke on Old Inns and Taverns. Piano pieces by Miss Salisbury and songs by Mrs N G Herreshoff Jr completed the program. Hostesses were Miss Mabel B Salisbury Mrs Edward D Kunz and Mrs J Ellery Ingraham.

School Committee Elects Officials Amid Debate

At the monthly meeting the School Committee elected several officials with dissent. Dr A M Merriman was re elected medical inspector by two to one after opposition. Dr M J O'Brien was chosen dental inspector by paper ballot three votes to three with President Connery casting the deciding vote for O'Brien. Meiggs was re elected truancy officer at 700 dollars, and Easterbrooks and Meiggs named census enumerators. The group discussed site purchases for the Guneral School and called for a building committee meeting around Dec 19.

Colt Memorial High Debaters Lose To Pawtucket Team

Last Friday at Pawtucket the Colt Memorial High School debate team faced the local high school juniors in an interscholastic event on the Ruhr Valley occupation. The Colt five, Leon Kenney Leo Nussenfeld Charles Serbst and Catherine Fay argued the affirmative under coach Mrs Bernice Clark. Although the judges noted their fine showing the Pawtucket team won, reflecting the larger student body and experience.
