New York Letter Reflects on Society, Pensions, and Youth
From Our Own Correspondent in New York, December 6, 188]. The piece skewers meddling society folk, a celebrity child star, and courtly melodrama around a matinee romance and a juvenile engagement. It mocks gas bills, praises Gen Dan Sickles resisting meter theft, notes the Stock Exchange fizzled, and questions Pension Arrears Reform while defending veterans and pensions as honor plus support.
