The Bristol Historical Society will sponsor a townwide Christmas decoration contest led by Capt Harold Payson Jr and Lt Col Ruth M Briggs USA Ret A committee with volunteers will judge categories for best total effect grounds door and commercial Prize money of 10 and 5 will be awarded entries due December 19 and judged December 21 The society aims to boost Bristol's vitality through historic preservation and community projects The Bristol Jr Women's Club will host a pops concert by the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra on February 17 at the new Bristol High School auditorium Tickets via Mrs Anthony Nastri 253-6029

Bristol edged Barrington 53 52 in the new Bristol Junior-Senior High School gym in front of about 1 000 fans. Junior Ferro was held to 11 points by Barrington’s defense while Paul Vivieros and Mark Grabert contributed 19 and 12 points respectively. The win follows a pre season start and sets up an 18 game league slate as Bristol eyes its best season in years.
