For the first time Bristol will raise the British flag alongside the Stars and Stripes at 8 am on the Common side. Plans for Community Sing at Coit High School
The next Community Sing will be at Coit High School on Wednesday evening December 11 at 8 o clock. An hour of familiar songs will be followed by more difficult pieces for those who wish to study. Sergt Manuel F Morris Died in France of Pneumonia
Mrs Isabel Morris of 215 Franklin street received a War Department telegram announcing the death of her husband Sergt Manuel F Morris in France on November 19. He was 25 and had served since 1917, rising from corporal to sergeant while with the 19th Company AC and Battery B 66th Artillery, after working as a moving picture operator before enlistment. He spent time at Fort Rodman and Fort Adams and was widely loved.

telegram from Warren informs death of Walter L Stevens son of Thomas G Stevens aged 21. he left for camp dix last July with the draft and later went overseas after service in france. he was a Bristol resident with many friends and is survived by his father mother brother Thomas Jr sister Mildred and relatives. he was a painter by trade.

Obituary Hon Harry Hazard Shepard of Providence
Obituary notes the death of Hon Harry Hazard Shepard in Providence at age 60 or 61 after a long illness. Born in New York City, he left plans to study law for rubber industry work, later joining Goodyear through his uncle F M Shepard. He moved to Bristol in 1895 as selling agent for National India Rubber, then became factory general manager in 1900 after George Schlosser resigned.

Death of Bristol Leader Shepard After Long Public Service
Five years before January 16, 1915, he resigned due to failing health. A Providence resident, he served Bristol as State Representative for two years and State Senator for four, chaired the School Committee, and was named to the State Board of Charities and Corrections by Gov Utter and reappointed by Gov Higgins. Survived by wife and a son, Lieut James Ira Shepard, Brown University and Harvard Law School graduate, served abroad with the Seventy sixth Division and was recently transferred. Funeral at 1 pm at 147 Prospect Street. burial at the tomb with private services for his overseas bound son. He was widely known for generosity and business skill.
