Tree Campaign Completes Bristol Tree Care Efforts
Tree Warden Samuel Kinder completed Bristol's tree care and planting for the season. An appropriation of 1000 was partially spent on spraying and new trees, with 685.08 used for spraying last spring, 378 raised locally, and 792.92 total for new trees. Kinder set out 308 trees at 767.75, leaving 25.17 on hand to be kept for spring. He notes a savings from state spraying and arsenate use, spraying at least 1826 trees for 585, and says the 803 trees planted cost about 787.75, or just over 2.50 each with guard. He praises the effort and urges continued work next summer to redeem treeless streets.

District Court Hears Ferria Case For Threatening Kill
In district court Judge Bosworth arraigned Mrs. Josephine Ferria on a charge of threatening to kill Miss Mary Brunelli. Ferria denied guilt and sought more time to obtain counsel as the case was continued one week. Also before the court George A. Munro faced a writ of capias on neglect charges and Augustine P. Nerove sued Jasper M. Bullock in a civil matter continued one week.

Two New Battleships Named Texas and New York
The United States Navy authorized two dreadnoughts to be named Texas and New York in a move approved by Congress. Texas will be built by a private contractor and New York by the government at the New York yard. both ships will require renaming of existing vessels, with the present Texas to become San Marcos and the cruiser New York to become Manhattan.
