Water Study Commission Sees State as Water Problem Solver

The three town Water Study Commission discussed a 6.6 million dollar pipeline linking Bristol County Water Co to Providence, with final responsibility shifted to the State. The panel favored addressing smaller rate increases via the RI Public Utilities Commission while considering public financing options over private funding. Officials from Bristol Warren Barrington and Portsmouth attended led by Chairman Raymond DeLeo.

Dedication of Vets Home Wing Sunday

The Chester W. Williams Memorial wing at the R.J. Veterans Home will be dedicated Sunday with speakers including U S Senators Pastore and Pell and U S Representatives St Germain and Tiernan. Lt Cmdr Edwin E Williams will unveil the plaque.

Rail Terminal Plan Shifts Ending Point to Barrington

Senator Joseph Bruno and Representative Henry Pacheco pressed for a rapid transit line extended to Bristol but data show no Warren terminus. the line will end in Barrington unless demand from Warren and Bristol rises. The state planning agency says Bristol is a desirable addition but not supported. Warren was once the max test end.
