Bristol boards push Bristol traffic relief at state meeting

At Barrington Town Hall a Bristol County delegation led by Norman E. McCulloch pressed State Highway officials to include Bristol issues in the next seven year plan. W. Hauck and Oreste Di Saia argued main line traffic and crises take priority over local Bristol projects. The session clarified why Bristol was not in the top 10 projects and underscored the need to ease center traffic.

Bristol Business Civic Association Plans Christmas Lights

The BBCA approved plans to illuminate Hope street this Yuletide and erect a Christmas tableau at Hope and Bradford in front of Colt Memorial High School. A town council vote will be sought for the tableau and a benefit tag day. Estimated lighting cost runs 800 to 900 dollars. Committees for the holiday observance will be set at a special BBCA meeting.

Installation Service At Congregational Church

The Rev. Carl B. Bare will preach the sermon at the Installation Service for the Rev. Frederick F. Driftmier at First Congregational Church on Sunday evening December 10 at 7. An Ecclesiastical Council meets at 4 30 p.m. to review the Bristol minister’s qualifications followed by a high tea. The 7 p.m. service includes multiple clergy speakers and a charge to the minister and church with a word of welcome and benediction.

Civilian defense volunteers urged by local director

Boys Clubhouse Burns After Night Fire In Bristol

Four boys built a small wood clubhouse on East State Street Bristol. A passerby said the door was forced and a fire started about 10 15 PM. The structure burned to embers despite volunteer fire crews. The boys Louis Sousa Jr Carmine Balzano Frank Campo and John Rebella escaped uninjured.
