Defiance Fire Company Wins Rhode Island Water Battle Championship

The Defiance Fire Company team led by Capt. Angelo Andrade with Jim Almeida Charles Andrade and Manuel Terra won the Theodore Francis Greene trophy at Warwick. They defeated Geneva North Providence and Bristol teams in rapid water jousting at Goron’s Pond, achieving 300 gallons per minute under 65 pounds pressure and finishing 2 minutes 19 45 seconds ahead in 15 minutes. Edward Wilkinson oversaw pumping while Louis Gallo attended the tournament committee as about 200 spectators watched.
