Portuguese Club Bachelors Triumph at Annual Outing Ball Game

Manuel Joseph pitched the Bachelors to an 11 1 victory over the Benedicts in the local twilight league event part of the Portuguese Independent Club annual outing at the Fales Farm. John Viera collected three hits, Frank Correira led in events, and Hut Correia was the standout all day. More than 60 members and guests attended the day’s events and chowder bake.

Happy Hikers Visit St Michael s Church for Episcopal Services

Church Army Cadets arrive and conduct services at St Michael s Church and the lawn between St Michael s and the Holmes House. They will hold outdoor meetings at the Home For Aged Women on Franklin street and an 8 pm mission service in the church. Captain Franklin H Beard leads eight cadets including Frederick W Brownell and others on a 700 mile hike from Providence.

Child Injured By Car On Hope Street

Harold Greene Jr a two year old boy son of Mr and Mrs Harold Greene of 72 State Street received slight cuts to the forehead and lip while walking with his mother on Hope street. He darted from her side and ran into a car driven by William E West Jr of 44 Armington Street Bridgewood. The boy was taken to Dr Wm Wern man’s office by Mr West for treatment.

Regatta Entries Greeted By Stiff Southwest Breeze

Bristol Yacht Club hosted its annual regatta with 80 plus boats amid rough seas and a crowded waterfront. Papoose, skippered by Edward L. Leahy Jr., edged Wall’s Black Marta in the 12 foot class with a tight finish, while Class CC and other yachts suffered mishaps including mainsail splits and hull entanglements as the event continued with a Saturday series running toward close.

Public Aid Directors Cut Paradise Family From Bristol Aid

The Public Aid Directors voted to remove Vincenzo Paradiso and his seven member family from city aid after a communication from George J. Bitty, Overseer of the Poor in Macanaqua Pennsylvania, revealed Paradiso owned a $2500 property there. A son in law is said to live on the property and a lien on the property was proposed if he returned. The board ordered restitution of $9250 tied to food orders taken in six months, with legal action if unpaid. Some directors urged extending aid one last week.

Bristol Train of Artillery Wins at Char Commands Outing

Sixteen members of the Bristol Train of Artillery attended the annual field day and muster of the independent chartered commands of the State at Hill's Woodland Camp Coventry RI. The BTA rifle team defeated tough rivals the Varnum Continentals on a tie of 445 points by winning three bulls eyes. Henry Hambrick Edward Bullock Ralph Bennett Freeman Canning and John St Angelo comprised the winning BTA team.

Class of 1929 Holds Rocky Point Reunion

A reunion of Colt Memorial High School’s Class of 1929 was held Saturday at Rocky Point. About 40 members and guests were conveyed from town to the amusement resort aboard the cabin cruiser Crest. James St Angelo served as chairman of the arrangements committee.

Different Pleas Entered By Turkey Thieves

In Fifth District Court Mrs Mary Silvia 48 and Frank Victoria 59 faced charges for entering a fowl enclosure at Ferrycliffe Farm. Silvia denied the charge and is bail $2000.
