Bristol trumpeter Teet Munro returns after 15 years

Bristol musician Ellsworth Teet Munro known as Axel returns home after 15 years in major radio and recording work. He joined the Portuguese Independent Band and the Smoke-Eaters at Newport Naval Training Station, plans to teach trumpet and set up a music studio and store, and recalls a 60 000 strong Mayor's Concert crowd in Chicago. He started in Bristol, played with Gene Autry and Frank Sinatra era shows, and hopes to inspire students locally after Labor Day.

Warwick Scouts win junior division top prize at contest

The Bristol Boy Scout Drum and Bugle Corps won first place in the junior division at Warwick with 96.61 points, earning the top score of the day. Drum major Norman Toste won a first place medal. Despite a small roster they claimed victory, targeting the Rangers competition at Warren next Sunday and aiming for the Paiva-Freitas Memorial trophy three years running.

Troop 5 Scouts Visit Lebanon 250th Anniversary Pilgrimage

Fifteen scouts and three leaders from Troop 5 attended an overnight pilgrimage in Lebanon Connecticut for its 250th anniversary. They arrived Saturday, joined a dress parade and speakers, received badges, and watched a pageant with five hundred townspeople before returning Sunday afternoon.

Capt Raymond J. Makowsky of this town is named Bristol County chairman of the Crusade For Freedom by Thomas P. Hazard of Peacedale Rhode Island. National chairman General Lucius D.
