Enterprise chosen to defend America's Cup against Shamrock V

The New York Yacht Club selects the Enterprise as the defender for the 1936 America's Cup races off Newport, choosing amid four contenders. Enterprise, built by Herreshoff, with a 120 ft 9 in overall length and 7583 sq ft sail area, will race against Sir Thomas Lipton's Shamrock V starting September 13.

Drive For Memorial Ambulance Fund in Bristol

The LeBaron C. Colt Memorial Ambulance Fund drive continues through next Tuesday with coin tags sold by youths across Bristol to fund major repairs and equipment. The Colt Ambulance started in 1917 in memory of LeBaron C. Colt of the National India Rubber Co and serves free of charge, with trips to Rhode Island hospitals and nearby Massachusetts facilities. 1664 trips recorded from 1917 to 1930 across two ambulances.
