The Sixth District Exemption Board resumed work at the Y M C A gymnasium for a fifth call of 500 more men. One hundred twenty five passed medical, 108 examined, 9 excusable, 56 aliens, 31 physically disqualified, 19 physically disqualified, 38 qualified. WEDDED 68 YEARS Clark and Crandall observe anniversary
Mr and Mrs Clark Davis Crandall marked their 68th wedding anniversary yesterday at their son Capt O M Crandalls home. The couple wed in Westerly on August 14 1949, and their family includes three sons Capt Oscar M Crandall of the town Capt Albert Crandall of Metropolitan Steamship Boston and Henry Crandall an insurer in Boston plus daughter Mrs William E Spear of Westerly. Mrs Crandall will be 87 on March 11.

Bath House Improvements by Public Bath Caretaker
Charles H. Bickford, caretaker, has improved the Bristol Public Bath House beach by removing seven to eight tons of stones. He sells soda water from the site and donated part of the proceeds to fund the work. The beach now attracts about 150 children daily, with higher rental receipts, and plans exist to enlarge the bath house, add a better diving float, and pipe in fresh water next year.

Fifth District Court Fines Tobin For Alcoholic Driving
John T. Tobin of Ocean Grove Swansea was fined 100 dollars and costs after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated in the Fifth District Court. Judge F H Hammill noted no extenuating circumstances and warned of the dangers of intoxicated driving after Tobin’s truck overturn incident on South Main Street Warren. Bail set at 300 dollars on appeal.

Child Instantly Killed in Portsmouth Auto Accident
Four year old Emanuel Silvia, son of Emanuel Silvia, of Portsmouth, died Friday at 7 am when run over by an auto truck from Peckham Davis of Fall River. The tragedy happened near farmer B Earl Anthony’s West Main road property. Medical Examiner B F Stors ruled the death an unavoidable accident, finding the child at fault.
