Newport Ferry Co. Sued for Damages Over Box Enclosure Injury
Dr. George T. Spicer of Providence sues the Newport and Providence Railway Co. for 1500 in Superior Court alleging a heavy cover blew from a top enclosure on a Bristol ferry, struck his head, caused concussion and other injuries. He claims negligence for not securing the cover and says the accident impaired his work for two weeks and hindered cases.

Naval Reserves embark on annual Rhode Island cruise
Thirty five Naval Reserves left on Saturday aboard the United States Gunboat Wasp for Newport where they boarded the U S Cruiser Columbia for the Rhode Island Naval Battalion cruise. Lieut Edward P Gladding led the party with Lieut Cutting and Ensign E J Prest as officers. Low tide hindered Wasp departure. The Newport division boarded the Columbia, while Providence and East Providence divisions joined on the Wasp. The battalion will return next Saturday September 1 after cruising as far south as Chesapeake Bay.
