Water ban lifted as August rains fill reservoirs
Fred P Stradling manager of the Bristol County Water Company announced the end of the watering ban. He cited heavy August rainfall totaling 8.65 inches at Warren station and noted storage rose by 58 million gallons since July 30, with weekly pumpage down from 44 million to 26-27 million gallons. Meter installation will begin after Labor Day.

Coast Guard Helps Stage Narr Bay Regatta Start
Bristol Yacht Club hosts Narragansett Bay regatta with 185 sailboats in 29 classes as Coast Guard helped avert a start mixup by moving the Spar and Sorrel. Lt Openshaw coordinated boats from the Spar while Winslow C. Kelsey oversaw a rescue, and Commodore de Wolf praised the maneuver that allowed the event to proceed.

Prize Shell Hunt At Picnic Brightens Bristol Outing
Kids packed St Columba's Seminary grounds for Bristol playground outing at 11 AM. A shell hunt with thousands of oyster shells offered prizes for top collectors and a prize for the biggest haul as cleanup meals followed. Two 1952 season events remain: an all girl track meet and Awards Day on Friday at 10 AM.

Campo Finishes CAP Encampment at Westover
Cadet Captain Frank Campo Jr. of Bristol completed a two week Civil Air Patrol encampment at Westover Air Force Base Massachusetts. The highlight was an orientation flight in a C 124 Stratocruiser from Westover to Lebanon New Hampshire to Albany New York and back taking about three hours. His attendance makes him eligible for the cadet exchange program next summer offering a two week visit to a foreign country as guests of the Air Force.

Hole In One Lenhardt Surprises Sousa At Fenway
In a Sunday doubleheader between the Red Sox and St. Louis, Lenhardt hit a screaming foul ball into the stands at Fenway Park. The ball lodged in the pocket of John P. Sousa of 110 Constitution Street, astonishing Sousa as players and fans searched for the ball.

Sylvia to Explain New North Bristol Voting District
Frank J Sylvia, chairman of the Suit of canvassers, will address the Bristol Midlands unit of the Bristol Women's Republican Club tomorrow at 2:30 pm at Mrs. B. L. Hornby's Shore Road home. He will outline the board created northern district to be used for the November 4 elections and explain its procedures and implications for Bristol Highlands voters. Almeida Wins Hog Island Swim in Record Time
Bernard Almeida captured the Hog Island one and a half mile race for the third win in four years, finishing in 34.19 minutes to shave 20 seconds off his previous record amid choppy water. Carla France, 14, won the girls title in 53.10 minutes, breaking the old mark of 55 minutes. Second and third in the boys race went to Carl Bridges and Robert Mercer, with nine of twelve starters finishing.

Bristol Exhibition Showcases Shawls and Fans
The Bristol Historical Society hosts a multiweek show of shawls and fans not seen at the prior exhibit. One shawl was worn in the early 1800s by Mrs. John Brown, ancestor of the Herreshoff family. Water Ballet and Aquamaids Shine at Bristol County Show
About 2500 people gathered at the town beach for the third annual Bristol County aquatic show titled Weekend In Hawaii. Directed by Charley Callan the program included diving by Joseph Eccleson and Paul Mancifil, water duets by Eleanor O'Donnell and Louise Leedham, and a Hawaiian Aquamaids water ballet led by Jane Sousa and teammates. The Aquamaniacs water comedy team featured Manuel Vargas and six others while Jack Walsh drove the water ski tow boat and Erasmo Mancini announced. Louis Evans handled the public address and the Smokeeaters Sympathy Band of Newport, directed by Anthony DeAngelo, supplied music.

Spud Stirs Finals Tilt In Bristol Twilight League
Opening game of a best of three Bristol Twilight League final ended in uproar as a peeled potato used as a ball substitute sparked a protest. Tony Anania of Mt. Carmel tossed the spud over the third baseman’s head, forcing a delay to finish the frame and the game under protest. Umpires Anthony Agatiello and Hugh Fitzpatrick oversaw the contentious session.

DAR Plans Rhode Island Battle Day Observance
Bristol Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will observe the 174th anniversary of the Battle of Rhode Island at Mrs. Clifford M. Wilson home on Washington Road Barrington.
