At a Fifth District Court special session Judge James B Linehan fined James Bottomley and Warren Campanella twenty five dollars plus costs for obstructing a police officer. Both men were arraigned after an altercation at the White Front Cafe on Thames street with Patrolman Edward L McCallum. Bottomley refused the officer entry, the clash left the officer without a nightstick and relying on a blackjack. Bottomley required eight stitches for a wound from the assault and chaos in custody included a smoke filled jail after a straitjacket was applied and later reportedly burned.
