Town Council Demands Telephone Service Reform
The Bristol Rhode Island town council voted unanimously to protest poor local telephone service. They will send letters to the Public Utilities Commission and the Providence manager of New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, and seek a special line for the fire chief.

Relatives in town learned of the death of William Jenckes Smith at Fairhaven New Jersey. He was 67, ill for six months. Born in this town, he lived here until 17, then in New York state and New Jersey. Survived by widow Elizabeth Reid, two brothers George M. Smith and Raymond P. Smith, three sisters Mrs George W. Laughton, Mrs Charles F. Sanford, and Mrs Catherine S Connolly. Funeral from his New Jersey residence Wednesday, interment in Brooklyn Thursday.

A large crowd watched the Dreadnaughts defeat the Old Timers 19 to 18 in a playful baseball mashup. Dan Rische pitched well for the Old Timers with four strikeouts while Fat Collard and Willie Simmons shared catching duties and contributed offensively.
