Leahy's Pappoose won the first leg on the new 12-foot cup donated by a Bristol Yacht Club member. The harbor course drew numerous spectators as the small craft battled a 25 mile per hour southeast breeze, with Pappoose finishing ahead of F Bo Wall's Black Marta by 26 seconds and pulling further clear to lead by 52 seconds by the north marker near Wardwell Boat Yard.
