Insects Live Days After Decapitation and Color Vision Studies

S. RB Canestrini notes insect heads influence movement less than mammal heads as butterflies persist eighteen days, crickets thirteen days, and mantis fourteen days post decapitation. Touch precision reaches one thousandth to one thirty-thousandth inch, aiding fine mechanical measurements. Rayleigh’s color blindness tests show common red deficiency and varied color perception affecting interpretations of astronomical color changes.
