The Effects of Alcoholic Drinks on the Human System
An essay responds to a temperance prize describing alcohol as harmful. It argues liquor increases respiration and heat loss, dulls nerves, damages brain function, weakens bodies, and can lead to delirium tremens. It cites Solomon and urges avoidance and prevention over use.

Real Estate Transfers Mentioned in 19th Century Letter
The note recounts that Mr Vassall left the country, his estate was bought by John Brown of Providence and sold to others except the Erreshoff estate kept in the family. Brown’s ancestor purchased it. Vassall returned after the War and died in the city, with a monument in King's Chapel. A house tradition says it was framed in England from English oak and erected at its site by Nathaniel Byfeld.
