Bristol’s Carr Manufacturing Company prepares to start rubber webbing production in September at a new plant. Heavy machinery is installed with boilers nearly ready, wiring and plumbing underway, and payroll for local workers. town voters approved $5000 for improved approaches to the factory site, signaling welcome industrial growth.
The Sewer Commission will reveal a four plan to raise about $3500 to meet bills at a town council meeting tonight in the Burnside Memorial building. The council is expected to decide on lease petitions from Frank W Terra and Joseph Rego for town land at Gooding avenue and Hope street, Terra seeking renewal for pasture use and Rego proposing a gasoline filling station on the corner. Despite discussions, Terra and Rego have not reached an agreement.
The Bristol Train of Artillery Band attracted thousands for its third open air concert at Colt Memorial High School as Mrs M Theresa Donovan directed a program including solos by Angelo Primiano and Domenic Raiola and a soprano set by Minnie Gogba with piano by Lucien Capone.
State Street Methodist Episcopal Church Sunday school marked its annual outing at Dixon's Cottage with over 50 attendees. Pupils from junior and primary grades competed in races and games, including 50 yard dash won by Henry Hambrick, others by Cynthia Mee Caw Walter Brelsford and Herbert Sylvester, followed by a bundled prize list and a basket lunch.
The Twilight League Board of Governors unanimously upheld an umpire’s decision after Olympians protested a game with Ever Readys on Aug 9. Threats of withdrawal sparked talk of a new team, but management changes at Y M C A paused that plan. The board affirmed no appeal rights and kept existing ground rules. The Olympians later indicated they would stay on the field.
Plans are completed for the Bristol Lions Club third annual bake event to be held Thursday afternoon August 25 at Fales Farm Tiverton. Charles F Durfee, a veteran bake master, will prepare the bake. Dr Angelo is committee chair with assistants Roland Martelly, Oscar Prin, George T Ingram, Sebastian Bernard, William Ingram, and Lion President Bow Wall.

Rev Francisco G Vieira pastor of St Elizabeths Church died Saturday afternoon from a heart attack in Bristol Rhode Island Funeral services were held at St Elizabeths Church with Bishop Hickey officiating A large crowd from surrounding towns attended the interment followed at St Marys Cemetery Vieira was a native of the Azores and served as pastor since 1918 He helped found the Sisters of St Dorothy convent and chaired local relief efforts as a town official and school committee member
Bristol Red Cross announces emblems for swimmers who passed the two week Local Bath House tests at Bur ton street under Raymond Makowsky. Junior lifesaving tests finished yesterday. seniors today. Friday 2 PM water carnival features diving and lifesaving demonstrations by a team including Hazen Sousa Jackson Mott and Marshman.
Anthony Alice of 44 Catherine Street and Mary Ciallella of 17 Anoka Avenue Barrington have filed marriage intentions with the Town Clerk. They plan to wed September 3 at Holy Angels Church Barrington.
Luigi Di Sano of Warren, 45, was found guilty of driving a truck under liquor influence and fined 100 dollars plus costs by Judge Benjamin F. Lindemuth. He posted a 500 dollar bond for October Superior Court appearance in Providence after appealing.
