Bristol Republicans Back State Central Committee Unity Meeting

The Bristol Republican Town Committee pledged 100 percent support to the State Central Committee and its executive body at a two and a half hour Belvedere Hotel meeting. The move signaled diminished backing for Walter Sundlun while retaining personal confidence in him. Attendees included T P Hazard and T Casey Greene, with Dr Bernardo explaining the stance as a recommendation to the state committee. New local candidates Frank Sylvia, Orlando Brisbane, Ralph Church and other figures were introduced for the state legislature and the Republican town panel.

Bristol Man Collapses on Hope Street

Bristol man Joseph Mottas aged 41 of 567 Wood Street collapsed while walking on Hope Street near Franklin Street. He was taken to Truesdale Hospital by ambulance after Dr Hubert Holdsworth arrived at 9 40. Police sergeants Cashin and Demars assisted at the scene.

Organization plans for a town wide X Ray drive have been announced with 12 districts registering, an Andrews Memorial School mobile unit arriving Friday, and 6 000 people expected to be served. The Honorable Arthur A Carrellas a state representative from Middletown and president of the National Portugal Museum Pell Foundation spoke to Bristol Rotarians about the Portugal Art Museum in Newport. He said Portuguese art objects valued over 100000 were donated by Mr and Mrs Herbert C Pell with a museum housed in Newport. The Pell Foundation is raising about 50000 with committees across southern New England. The museum, a unique national institution, aims to educate and draw visitors nationwide.
