Lord Mayor Fitzroy Chamberlain a Very Big Success
According to town clerk Anthony J. Dennis Jr the visit by Lord Mayor Fitzroy G W Chamberlain and Mrs Chamberlain of Bristol England was a very very big success far beyond expectations. The Newport Naval Station visit impressed Admiral Crommelin and his wife who invited the party to Coasters Island where Eisenhower stayed last summer. About 250 guests attended the reception at the Leahy home with a committee of local officers and many volunteers handling pours and reception duties. The day featured ideal weather and a gracious ceremony at Bi tthewold estates in Newport Beach.
