Fall River and neighboring communities vote to ask the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Public Utilities Commissions for a 90 day stay on the New Haven Rail Road fare increase set to start on Sept 1. A three person committee from the towns will meet with railroad officials while a separate committee handles the protest strategy.
Interstate Commerce Commission and two Public Utilities Commissions hear requests for a 90 day stay of execution. Attending are Bristol Town Council President Edward Bunn and officials from East Providence Warren Swansea Fall River Ocean Grove Bristol Chamber groups and Fall River merchants and traffic leaders.
Bristol baseball team travels to Woonsocket to face the All Stars who hold a 14 3 record this season. Listed Bristol players include Turner J Garvin Sylvia Ho Murphy J Murphy Lee Matrone W Gladue Ho Gladue Moore.
The annual outing of United Bros Lodge No 13 will be held Saturday at the old Trotting Park replacing Camp Takares. A fine program of sports and a ball game is planned with ample refreshments. Members are urged to attend and take the 1:15 pm trolley.
A Ford light delivery truck was struck by a Consolidated train at the South Main Street crossing in Warren delaying dawn patrol. Vincenzo Miserindino was killed while his son Ernest and Frank J. Bruno were injured. witnesses say brake failure and driver error led to the collision.
Vincenzo Miserandino 58 worked 25 years at National India Rubber Company and died in a factory area accident after a train delay of 45 minutes. His family survives. his son Ernest and others were treated at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Morrisseau and Dr. Seymour investigated the death while George Wilbur arranged the body’s disposition.
A shower at Mrs Charles F. Sanford’s residence on Main Road hosted by Mrs Eliza beth H. Hoffman of Chicago honored Misses Margaret and Amy Watts as they prepare for September weddings to Ramsey Trotter and Arthur Coates. About twenty young ladies attended, gifts hung on a lawn fir tree like a Christmas display, and guests called the brides-to-be from the house.
