American Eagle Captured by Coal Company Worker

Walter Belmore of Staples Coal Company captured a large American eagle at the Sagamore dock while delivering coal to a steamer. The exhausted bird, pursued by seagulls, perched on the ship before collapsing on deck. Belmore saved it with a hat for protection and plans to feed it at the company barn. The crippled foot suggests prior injury, and the eagle may be the same one seen on the State Street ME Church spire last Tuesday.
